Commercial Cookery Students Conclude Final Practical with a Generous Gesture

As the term draws to a close, Commercial Cookery students from Acknowledge Education’s Hospitality programs demonstrated their culinary skills during their final kitchen practicals by preparing a grand buffet. But this wasn’t just an opportunity to showcase their learning; it became a remarkable act of giving back to the community.

The Hospitality Department, led by Department Head Will Yu, with support from Kitchen Manager Ganesh and the exceptional team of chef lecturers and teachers, collaborated with the Community Services Department to make the day even more meaningful. Tony Rangelov, the Community Partnerships and Placement Manager, coordinated efforts to ensure the food prepared during the students’ practical exam reached those in need.

In a smooth operation combining kitchen standards and community service, the Commercial Cookery students personally packed the buffet food, adhering to high-quality kitchen standards. Once packed, the meals were handed over to Tony Rangelov, who delivered them to two valued partner institutions: The Break Inc. in Elsternwick and the Christ Church Mission Community Centre in St Kilda.

This collaboration exemplifies the values at the heart of Acknowledge Education: skill development combined with social responsibility. By partnering with community service organizations, students not only gained hands-on experience but also had the opportunity to contribute to their local communities in a significant way.

The event highlights the spirit of collaboration between the Hospitality and Community Services departments, ensuring that both students and community members benefit from this thoughtful initiative.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone involved in this initiative, with a special emphasis on our Hospitality Department for their exceptional efforts in organizing the entire donation process. Their leadership and commitment were instrumental in making this initiative possible. We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Tony, whose unwavering support and enthusiasm in personally delivering the food packs to our partner institutions truly brought this effort full circle. The collaboration and dedication of all involved made this initiative a resounding success.
