AE Community Services Students Host Nepalese Festival at Merrylands Youth Center

Merrylands Youth Center in Merrylands, Sydney, recently hosted a vibrant Nepalese festival, organized by AE Community Services students as part of their final placement. This event served as both a cultural celebration and a community project, offering the local community an opportunity to learn about Nepalese heritage and traditions.

The students, who were completing their final unit before graduating in Community Services, dressed in beautiful sarongs and shared traditional Nepalese food, creating an atmosphere of warmth and inclusivity. The festival was not only a testament to their cultural pride but also a successful example of community engagement.

The event was supported by the exceptional leadership at the Center, managed by George Pedersen and supervisor Seini Kolomalu. Both are known for their dedication to providing high-level guidance, going beyond mere compliance requirements to ensure that students receive meaningful, real-world experience in community service. Their commitment to fostering a supportive environment was clearly reflected in the success of the Nepalese festival, which highlighted the power of cultural exchange and community involvement.
